Oh I had both teachers before! Both of them may seem intimidating but they’re definitely friendly and willing to help you out if you ask for help. They’re both particular about you learning the subject material properly and expect you to know the lessons during sync. I am not sure how Sir Yu handles his class on an online setting, but Ms. Faylona required that we carefully read all the modules due for the week prior to a sync session because she will test us during the online meeting, and she often had us go off into groups or partners to practice. If you give the due effort and are respectful, you can definitely get an A! more

LOVED HER CLASS! She's a bit strict with grading your work especially with grammar and accents. She does a lot of recitation and dialogue work in class so you'd be better prepared to review the module in advance. Personally, I think the frequent participative class activities and dialogue made for a really fun class dynamic. Overall the best french prof ever! A-able with effort and you'll really learn in her class.more

HEY BEA LEGS!! Go for Faylona!! Super had fun in her class and you really really get to learn a lot of French! All you need to do is take down notes all the time (if you’re into cutting dont) and getting an A will be easy! Although I don’t know exactly how it’ll work for intersession since its smaller so it might be more cramped huhumore

Yup!! Not easy A but A-able!! You get exempted from finals if you have a class standing of B+ (if I'm not mistaken). She's a very nice and approachable teacher, and she's patient to students who make mistakes :) Everything you need to know for her quizzes are in the book so just read and practice and you'll do well :) Workload-wise, very manageable. She sometimes gives hw and they're very short and easy hehe I highly recommend her!!! Also, I've heard she's one of the intimidating profs for orals so if you get her as a prof at least you wont get her for orals na cause you're gonna have your exam with another prof :Dmore

Just finished my FLC with her in second sem and here are my thoughts about her: - Is she A-able? I think so. But if you’re good with a B, honestly, I’d take her class. - Workload wise? She assigns you to do work on Canvas and some videos here and there. It was do-able for me. However, she sometimes do surprise quizzes and makes you do dialogue during class with a few mins of preparation. Extra: - First impression, you might feel intimidated because she has a “no bs” type of personality and she really expects you to keep up with her learning. However, once you get used to how she teaches, you’ll be fine. - You need to understand the module before she teaches it. She will begin activities, quizzes, or other assessments when she thinks majority of you are fit to do it. - She’s really particular about accent, spelling, and pronounciation. Don’t feel shame or embarrassment if she grills you on how to pronounce a certain word in front of the class (I felt it lol). It makes you more aware of how you’re saying things and if you’re doing them correctly. - At first I really didn’t like her class because it wasn’t my first choice and I was pretty scared of her, but looking back, I learned a lot and she’s not as scary as you’d think.more

Just got my results for this class and I'll try to deliver everything in an impartial manner. Demeanour: She initially comes off as rude and cold, but rest assured that she means the best. She has a NO GADGET policy, and this is strictly enforced. She is passionate about French and it may come off as intimidating. Workload: The workload is objectively light. The structure of the workload is module based — each module has respective assessments to accomplished within its respective deadline. They're rather quick to accomplish, and with ready and effective preparation, it is definitely possible to get a 95+ Canvas average. Quizzes: With respect to my personal experience, the quizzes were never announced. Nevertheless, we found a pattern such that when we finish a module, the following class would have a quiz. The content of that quiz was generally about the respective completed module. Projects & Major Assessments: With regards to this, we had a "Vlog" for our major project. Simple and straightforward, she outlines EXACTLY what she wants and given you accomplish what she wants, expect a grade of 95-100. Class Dynamic: She will make you interact with her. If you are shy or are not willing to talk in class, I suggest to think twice before taking her class. With that being said, be prepared to make mistakes and be prepared to be corrected in front of the class. It may be humiliating at first, but everyone will go through this. Its her way of making sure everyone will get as close to mastery as possible. Class Dynamic (Partner): Often, she'll assign groupwork. Thus, it would be best to get comfortable with one or two of your seatmates as they would, more often than not, be your group mates until the end of the sem — unofficially, mainly for your convenience. Leniency: She's strict but she has a good heart. She understands limitations, and may adjust accordingly. But she also understands laziness and will not falter. Overall: She's a good professor and if you want to learn French, go for her. But if you want an easy way out, think twice. I'm not incredibly smart, if I can get an A, you damn well could get an A toomore
