took him for a different math class and ngl i suffered because we had quizzes every session. the challenge pays off tho and he's really amazing at teaching imo. i can say that his math class is the one i remember the most, and i doubt the frequent quizzes will apply to math 10 since math 10 is chill anwmore

Got a C+ despite being really REALLY mediocre at Math. Also failed a few of the tests but it turns out he grades quite generously :) Honestly even if u have rlly weak foundations it’s B-able. On the other hand, if you’re even slightly competent at math I should say you don’t have much to worry about! Def B+ able Sir Richell has been one of my favorite profs so far and that’s bc you can really feel his passion for the subject. Expect him to ask you to relate math to real world issues.. do the EDCOM reading because you’ll be needing it for that entire module. Just give the class your best effort and the odds will be in your favor. Can entertain questions if there are anymore

Had him for math 10. He is the best Hes fun, insightful and teaches u more than just math Do well on the essays though cause otherwise u might only get a b+. Hes a medium b+ id say, not too hard. U just gotta participate and try to learn. He had us watch a play and relay it to math so prep for that. He also has these fun math puzzles. Not really hard though. Hes really good.more

Having taken Flores twice and taking Bataller right now, I will say that both of them make creative big brain problems, so I’d be a bit worried about the departmentals lmao. Both of them can sorta explain the mathematical theories, although that might be skipped for this class since the theory is more of a nice-to-know than an actually necessary tool to pass. Both tend to give psets and then rip some exam questions from the psets. In terms of differences, there are two. First, Bataller grades harsher than Flores, although imo the former’s grading is more in line with Math Dept grading standards hehe. Second, their teaching styles. If I can compare them to a driving class, Flores, who’s more thorough, will ask you to do certain maneuvers one step at a time, and he will remind you how to do them if you forget. Bataller on the other hand is all gas and so will just tell you to get from Point A to Point B. The onus is more on you to not crash on the way. While it’s not the end of the world if you draw Bataller (dare I say he’s a bit overhated), he’s still on the lower half of Math dept instructors, so I think Flores is a bit better. But freshies can’t pick profs anyway, so believe in the gacha godsmore
