How is ECON 154i: ECONOMIC DEMOGRAPHY? It's being taught by BAUTISTA, CRISTINA M. and MAYO, Charlon. Do you recommend taking the class for my last sem if I'm aiming for Latin?more

Workload isn’t that bad, but lectures can be taxing. My schedule for the 3-unit class was Wednesdays only from 5-8 PM which was horrible if you don’t have a relatively good attention span. There is a short ten-minute break usually but sometimes he can go overtime, or choose not to have a break so we can finish earlier (the class always ended at the same time regardless lol). There are a few groupworks and individual works which aren’t so bad if you pay careful attention to the math involved. He appreciates questions and clarifications and I asked a lot of stupid ones and got on his better side. He always appreciates small talk also. If he gives feedback, it’s always comprehensive and honestly he just gives you what he’s looking for straight up. He’s generally very nice and sincere and I enjoyed having him as a prof for this reason. For ENVI 175i, some lessons were honestly really really difficult for me, but I enjoyed the content a lot. He grades pretty high. His biggest flaw is that he isn’t clear with instructions (I cannot emphasize this enough). As long as you get things done you’ll be fine though. He can be a bit boring to young students in terms of lectures so if you aren’t ready for that you might want to take another class. I dreaded going to class but it paid off since I learned a lot and got a morale boost (lots of positive feedback when I recited and when I submitted on time).more
EDIT 8/11/22: See my recent reply in this comment thread for more info on his workload and assignments EDIT 5/27/22: My post was made in the context that most if not all requirements were groupworks hence why I considered the workload to be "quite light." But according to students that enlisted in his recent classes apparently he made the requirements to be individual and added more requirements overall. So with that I highly suggest you take another class but I think at the end of the day sir grades fairly naman If you have a great attention span and/or is very interested in the elective itself take him. But if otherwise I suggest take another prof. His workload and canvas modules are quite light but a big bulk of your learning will come from his 3 hour long synch classes with no breaks unless you message him sa zoom (which he's nice enough to give if you ask naman). So if you have the discipline or interest to put your full attention in his classes you can surely get B+/A. However if you do the bare minimum to listen every now and then as well as have good attendance (as seatworks are graded and spontaneously announced mid class) you'll probably get a B at least. TL;DR Sir is quite old na so don't expect him to make engaging lectures or modules but at the end of the day he knows his stuff. If you are determined to listen and ask questions you can get through the class just fine. Otherwise, he's an easy skip so find another prof if you think you'll lack interest in the elective topic as you'll find yourself unmotivated to go through the lectures/synch sessions and surprise seatworks.more

Doctor Bautista is a very chill professor. If you need handholding, he’s not the person for you. If you are interested in the topic though, you’ll find him insightful. Not an easy A but hard to get anything lower than a B eithermore

I had her online and she was one of my favorites ever!! One of the only online classes I ever loomed forward to. She gives readings meant to be read before class but even if you don't read it, you can still contribute to the discussion. She always had us go out in breakout rooms then so I imagine in the onsite setting she would have you in small groups to discuss the lecture or videos she'll show to the class. She was sooo motherly vibes and I loved the validation she gave to everyone who recited HAHAHA so cute i love her you would want to recite in her class bc she accepts all answers and builds on them. Workload was suuuuper easy and most of them were groupworks I think. Only downside is that she never gave back any scores, but I got a good grade in her class so I think she's pretty considerate with grades. Take her if you want a chill class that you can still learn from!more

I had her for ENLIT 12! She’s very motherly and considerate of her students, so she’d (hopefully) be more gracious with ENE. Easy A as long as you follow her instructions!more

ONSITE UPDATE:
NOPE! don’t get her. load rev out of her class if you can. save yourself. lahat ata nabudol sa reviews haha.
all objective quizzes were unannounced 😐. does not even teach that well. minsan nagpapa-quiz kahit di naman ganong tinuro yung module haha. minsan malabo instructions. hard to reach. does not give feedback. shes like that teacher in highschool who masks passive-aggressiveness with “humor” lollll. madalas din magpa-present sa class. moderate-heavy workload. ang ok lang i guess is not super high standards? ayon lng lol pero not worth it cuz the class isn’t even fulfilling :// get out if u can.more

Had her last sem onsite so here's an honest review.
A classmate of mine took this class because they already took a class under Dr. Guevarra and it was a good experience daw. They were surprised as the semester unfolded. I also tried to be very understanding with her but you can only do so much.
Most of her requirements were not in the syllabus. The deadlines of these requirements were on Canvas but they were often due the next day at the same time slot as your class. The class presentations were very time consuming and didn't give much room for creativity as all groups had to do the same presentations. She would often have these surprise quizzes where she hadn't even discussed the modules. These quizzes were very, very specific too. Workload was indeed moderate to heavy.
Prof-wise, she's very passive-aggressive. I'm certain she's great at her job but in my experience, she didn't teach much as I expected, as per previous reviews. Also, she forgets easily so if you told her something last week, expect her to forget and not give you any consideration unless you provide proof and/or really explain. However, she is quite understanding ~sometimes~. You just really have to take your time in communicating to her. If you become her student, try to be as patient as you possibly can.🙏
Grade-wise, B+/A -able. Recite often to get brownie points. But mental health wise,,,, I wouldn't say it's worth it.
P.S. to future students be wary of other students because they took screenshots of the comments under this post and showed it to her. She was very upset with the reviews and took it out on our class. Honestly don't know how to feel about that. I'm just glad the sem is over.more
