for quali magpaconsult ka at every step of the way and take every output srsly cuz they compound into one final paper. his comments r really about changing parts of the paper so practical but also minsan medj huh cuz i feel like he also puts down what his inner voices say HAHAHAHAHA one of his chiller classes kasi wlang exams just those quizzes na wlang bearing sa grades. keri lng if di makacatch up sa readings pero makinig ka nlng di nmn sya boringmore

Hi! I was his beadle for DEV 189.8 last semester 😵‍💫 Magaling talaga si Sir Erron magturo. No questions about that. Super aware siya sa lahat ng bagay esp. Public Health. You'll be surprised kung gaano ka-deep yung knowledge ni Sir sa contemporary issues. You'll definitely learn a lot from him. If English is your first language, you might have a hard time understanding his lessons because he mainly teaches in Filipino. Sir is from UP, so his teaching style is very traditional din. He doesn't like people to use their phones during class. Marami siyang readings. Marami. HAHAHAHAHA His exams are hard HAHAHA Kahit magreview ka, there will still be items na hindi mo pa alam Btw, he doesn't reply sa mga messages asap kaya if you have any questions, take the opportunity to ask it onsite esp kapag beadle ka I agree with the comments, C talaga makukuha mo sa kanya with effort na yun. B if gagawin mong bread and butter yung readings niya with max effort. goodluck!!! :))more

Hi! (long comment ahead) Sir Erron is a little bit different in DEV194 compared to his other classes (politics/health) so please don’t lose heart muna from the other reviews you’ve seen (those are all still very valid as an ecm survivor). Teaching: He goes through one topic per session. The first few sessions will be about what qualitative research is and what it requires (ontology,epistemology,etc.). The succeeding sessions will be about the specific parts of the research paper. He’ll also give sample research papers to use for group activities. Work load: Moderate to heavy considering that each week or every two weeks you need to submit a part of the paper. But if you plan it out well, it’s very doable. Picking a good partner helps too! In true ECM fashion, there’s a 10-point quiz at the start of every session which serves as bonus points. TRY YOUR BEST SA QUIZZES. It will literally save you. Feedback: He gives helpful feedback although sometimes it can get confusing. It’s better if you utilise his consultation hours. I personally think that’s how me and my partner Klariz got a good grade. Grading: Let me just say, A-able naman siya. BUT, you’ve got no room to mess up. Probably B-able with a little more effort than usual (konting iyak). Easy D - C if vibes ka lang. Tips: -Since it’s a QUALITATIVE research class, choose a topic that can be studied qualitatively. It helps to be sure from the start about your topic. -Start your RL early! -When you consult with Sir, please don’t go empty handed. Have an idea with what you want to ask. Overall, I hope you use DEV194 as a way to explore what your research/advocacy interests are.more

my biggest tip for having him as a prof in 100.2 and 194 is don’t be too afraid of him!! the more serious you are, the scarier he will be HAHAHAHA of course you have to feel it out parin since he’s still a prof, but ngl the biggest part of why i survived our 3 hour 194 classes was because of how much we joked around with him nung mas lutang na kami workload-wise it will really vary depending on your partner so pick a good and dependable one!! expect weekly deadlines at some point in the semester so i also advise getting those things done earlier on especially if you’re taking him for 100.2 at the same time 😭 looking back, i really valued my 194 class because the skills i learned for qualitative research were still applicable when i moved on to quantitative research the following semester. he’s a good lecturer, but his expectations for outputs can get really overwhelming 💔more

his quizzes were not graded, but those who got at least 8/10 were given bonus points. with that said, do not cheat on the quizzes thinking that it wouldn't matter to him or anyone else, as you WILL end up getting bonus points taken away from the rest of your classmates 🙂 on a lighter note, if you have a hard time going through readings (personally, it was such a slog to go through all of them), make sure that you LISTEN to his lecture, as he actually gives great lectures on the topics. he does go on tangents sometimes, but as long as you understand the point of the lecture, you'll be good to go. also, collaboration is key (but not collaborating during quizzes and exams), so don't be shy to ask your classmates if they want to divvy up the readings into manageable parts and summarize them to make reviewing easiermore

ok lang at least realistic standards mo CHZ got him also for 189.8 but i think everyone has the same sentiments with his classes but here are sum actual tips i did Tip 1: he has lots of readings sobrang unrealistic basahin lahat if may pake ka sa ibang subjs mo so get a friend group and DIVIDE THE READINGS + MAKE SUMMARIES Tip 2: if he has a social output (for us we had to immerse with a group related to our Theo 13 subj) all he cares about is results feedback. if ur idea sounds good, it doesnt matter unless u can actually execute it. our group got rlly high because our intervention output was actually conducted with the organization and we got feedback so sir was very impressed lol Tip 3: makinig ka sa klase, mahirap pero wala kaung choice kasi ayaw din nya sa gadgets for notes afaik (pero may mga naggagadgets pa ren samin non HEHDH)more

tldr: makakapasa ka naman pero at what cost! charot BAHSJAHDHA id say sir grades better sa quali than pol kasi paper submissions sha. sa pol kasi, midterms and finals na 1% per pt, kaya ang panghatak mo na is the final paper. whereas sa quali naman, lahat talaga paper submissions (parts ng magiging final research proposal like RRL, etc) and generally kapag okay naman ang pinass mo, you'll get a decent grade pero dont expect much talaga 😭 i think you're gonna worry more abt pol than quali esp pag pa-midterms na,, tho ngl stressful din ang quali given how strict he is sa deadlinesmore

took him for dev 189.8 (political economy of health) and here are a few tips from someone who survived. 🥹 - go over the readings every meeting para may masagot ka sa pop quizzes! the plus points will save your grade. - take notes every discussion and jot down the figures especially the source and how sir erron interpreted them with the class. you can use these for the exam essays since he asks for concrete evidence/examples! - familiarize yourself with every reading's author/s and what they said habang discussion pa lang para hindi na mahirapan mag-memorize for midterms/finals. - do your best na sa midterms pa lang and find the most efficient way of studying all of the readings (READ THEM THOROUGHLY) and your notes. good luck, hope you survive! 🙏more
